The whole day was a bit surreal. Hard to believe it actually happened. Yes, it really was that wet, and these guys were charging!

Thanks John.

Johnny and i had to pull our whole boards down. I only had 2 bearings of the Moc 9's seize but i managed to recover them, they are know where near what they used to be. JG's Builtins came up ok. He did suggest to spray some WD in them till the morning, probably should have listened but, they will race again anyway.
Those who have spherical bearings in there trucks should pay a lot of attention in that area as mine had slight rust particles forming. It took me around 3 hours to totally clean everything, what a nightmare! But shit it was worth it.

I pulled down the ramon this afternoon. There was fine dirt in everything. In the hanger there was sand!! Cleaned it all - meth'o'd. Bearings cleaned in acetone. I have pleasure tools ceramics and they looked fine but the acetone was brown grey after a soaking. One bearing was seized on the axel - spot rust on all the axels.
I stupidity rode two boards - so that one will get a pull down tomorrow - plus Jackson will be pulling down the winning monster board - pavel roadster with pvd.
Definitely worth it. When will that ever happen again !!!!

it will be interesting to see if anyone notices a degredation in the performance of their bearings after such a treatment.

Ive found that there are 2 options once bearings have been hammered by rain

1)replace them
2) if they are ceramic , disassemble the bearings take inner and outer race heat to incandesence under a propane tourch (oxy might be to high a temperature) quench in oil then polish using a felt wheel and jewellers cutting (polishing) compound probable only takes about 4 or 5 hours

I got an easier method if they're ceramic.
chuck out the metal inner and outer races and replace with new ones taken from any reasonable quality abec 7 steel bearing. The result will be new ceramic bearings at moderate cost. $40 and half hrs work.

I rode with Builtins too. They came up okay but the grits took a bit longer to clean out than usual.
If anyone from chc-1 hasn't cleaned out their gear by now they're gonna be really sorry!

Here's a tip that I use regardless of weather. Get a tube of synthetic gel from pleasure tools. It costs about $10 and is the best stuff out to help preserve axles and spherical bearings on precision trucks. skwert some on your fingers and smear it on your axles before you load your bearings on.
Twist the spherical bearing around so its open and work as much into it as you can. Close it up and smear more around the outside of it. This will keep the crap out aswell as moisture. Gel will last way longer and offer more protection compared to oil because its thicker.

Carefull to everyone using WD40. This will strip lube off aswell and leave steel bare and prone to rusting again quickly.

And remember. If anyones Radikal, Splitfire, Airflow or Gog needs repairs just ship it to me and I will fix it for you. (No guarantee's on delivery time if at all) Razz
